In late 2013, World Connect launched the Young Women’s Agricultural Cooperative project alongside its local partner organization, the Youth Cooperative in Agriculture of Imouzzer-Kandar, and a local Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco, to organize and help a group of seven women in the cooperative to realize their dream of growing a business around their agricultural skills and experience. With support from World Connect, the women purchased goats and sold milk while learning and practicing animal husbandry, eventually adding sheep, cows, and beekeeping to produce and sell honey. Beginning with seven women, the group currently stands at 17 women after about two and a half years of operations, and with World Connect’s further partnership intends to grow to 100 women.
