Recognizing water as a national security issue for Morocco and its neighbors in the region, USAID is using science and technology to establish modernized and more sustainable water management practices in Morocco. The H2O Maghreb activity aims to identify cutting edge solutions to urgent water needs in Morocco and the region, while also increasing the employability skills of young Moroccans by providing them with a Water Knowledge Hub and Training Center that delivers market-driven training programs. As the fruit of a partnership bringing together the public and private spheres, H2O Maghreb brings state-of-the-art equipment and an Aquatronics curriculum, delivered through technical training using virtual reality (VR) tools, to the National Office for Electricity and Water. Aquatronics combines elements of water management from different professions in both the public and private industrial sectors, thereby meeting the challenges of improving water access and water treatment in a systematic manner.
