The project consisted of the creation of the second tram line and the extension of the first,
for a total length of around 17 km and 22 stations.
The new line and the extension were
commissioned in January 2019.
According to forecasts from the PDU study announced at the start of the year by Casa Transport, the T2 line
will see an attendance of 160,000 travelers per day by 2025, with a level of
high service (commercial speed of 20 km / h).
The T1 line, for its part, will experience a
+ 27% increase in attendance from 124,000 travelers per day in 2017 to
nearly 157,000 in 2025.
These two lines serve very isolated neighborhoods with the objective of
to integrate them into the modern metropolis and allow the most disadvantaged inhabitants access to
health, education and employment services.
The tram network is ultimately seen as
the structuring element of collective transport in Casablanca, supplemented by buses and taxis.
These two tram lines, including a perimeter of "
facade to facade ”, are also very structuring for the dynamic of urban development
of Casablanca.
