Country of emigration, Morocco pays special attention to Moroccans Residing Abroad (MRE) and makes significant efforts to strengthen ties with its diaspora.

In this context, the Moroccan government is implementing a comprehensive and integrated policy in their favor, described in the "National Strategy for Moroccans Residing Abroad". Lack of knowledge of the Moroccan regulatory framework and support mechanisms, difficulties in identifying the right interlocutors or even difficult access to relevant and up-to-date information, however, still hamper the efforts of MREs wishing to invest in Morocco.

In order to support the National Strategy for MRE, the MBI project has therefore chosen to focus on the following two specific results:

Result 1: Mobilization and individualized support for MRE project leaders in Belgium and Morocco for the creation and marketing of their companies in Morocco are carried out

Result 2: An economic environment making MRE aware of entrepreneurial opportunities in their country of origin and facilitating their procedures is set up in Belgium, in close collaboration with Belgian entrepreneurship support institutions Thanks to MBI, Belgian MRE with projects in Morocco will benefit from individualized support, led by entrepreneurship professionals.

The project will not only provide them with incubation and mentoring services, but also post-creation follow-up and networking activities.

This will increase their probability of success and they will therefore be more inclined to invest in their country of origin, thus contributing to its development.

In order to ensure the sustainability of these investments, the MBI project will also support the Belgian institutions in charge of promoting entrepreneurship so that they are more aware of the potential of MRE as liaison actors between Belgium and Morocco and have tools and precise information on investment opportunities in Morocco.
